With the Ginyu Force completely defeated, Vegeta decides to forge another alliance with the Earthlings, claiming that he may need help dealing with Frieza. Goku trust's Vegeta. Vegeta places Goku in a rejuvenation chamber inside Frieza's spaceship, and gives battle armor to Krillin and Gohan.
He doesn't give armor to Chi Chi, due to the fact that Frieza never recruits Female warriors. Chi Chi calls that Sexist. Vegeta tben criticizes Chi Chi's lack of footwear. The Earth Woman defends herself by telling Vegeta that fighting barefoot is beneficial on Earth and that she fights begter barefoot. Vegeta scoffs and tosses her a "whatever!"
Krillin leaves to find Guru to learn the appropriate summoning ritual for the Namekian Dragon Balls. Gohan goes outside to guard the Dragon Balls.
On his way to see The Grand Elder, Krillin meets up with Dende. It is revealed that the summoning has to be done in the Namekian language, so Dende will act as the translator to summon the dragon and request the wishes.
Meanwhile, Nail continues to fight Frieza to stall for the time needed for Dende to reach Krillin and Gohan.
Nail eventually reveals this to Frieza after realizing he will never last if he continues; the enraged tyrant immediately charges back towards his spaceship to try to regain control of the Dragon Balls.
Vegeta's decides to take a nap. Chi Chi stays by Goku's side. Krillin, Gohan, and Dende take advantage of the fact that Vegeta is napping, and take the Dragon Balls away from the ship and successfully summon Porunga, the Eternal Dragon of Namek. The Earth Heroes quickly find out that both the Summoning and Wishes must be spoken in the Namekian Language.
Krillin and Gohan also discover that although the Namekian Dragon Balls can grant three wishes, they can only resurrect one person per wish, unlike the Earth's Dragon Balls. After consulting with Piccolo via King Kai's telepathic abilities, they use the first wish to revive the Namekian, which also brings Kami and the Earth's Dragon Balls back.
They then use the second wish to teleport Piccolo to Namek so he can assist them in their fight with Frieza, but they are not specific enough in their wish; as a result Piccolo is indeed transported to Namek, but ends up quite a distance away from his friends and the imminent battle with Frieza.
Chi Chi watches the Dragon from inside the ship and is amazed at his size. She then leaves to find the rest room. Vegeta awakens and learns he's been duped. He speeds angrily to where Porunga is.
Vegeta is about to attack Krillin and Gohan until they tell him about their Unused wish.
They decide to let Vegeta become immortal so that they can defeat Frieza. As Dende speaks the wish, Porunga disintegrates and the Dragon Balls Become stone. Sad, Dende realizes that Guru is dead. Frieza finally arrives, and is not happy at all that his own plans for immortality have been thwarted.
Chi Chi spots the Confrontation from the ships window and wants to go into battle, but realizes she needs to be with Goku in his time of need. She prays Gohan will be alright.
Piccolo arrives on Planet Namek following being resurrected and wished there. He begins rushing towards the battlefield, and along the way encounters Nail,who's on the brink of death.
Nail convinces Piccolo to fuse with him to give him an edge in battle. Piccolo reluctantly agrees and performs Namekian fusion with Nail, which increases his power substantially. Satisfied with his new strength,Piccolo begins rushing back to the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Frieza, after battling the Earthlings and Vegeta in his first form, transforms to his second form following some goading from Vegeta.
After transforming into a more powerful form,Frieza goes on the Attack.. and Krillin is his first victim. Frieza tosses the near-dead Krillin into the water.
Gohan's rage from seeing a good friend nearly killed gets the better of him, and he immediately starts unloading on Frieza, much to Vegeta's surprise.
Vegeta had never seen how strong emotion dramatically increases Gohan's power levels.
As Gohan knocks Frieza out of the air, Dende saves Krillin from drowning and heals him. Dende received this power from Guru.
Frieza charges towards Gohan to get his revenge. Frieza begins thrashing Gohan, but is rescued by the healed Krillin, who distracts the tyrant with numerous attacks and escapades, buying just enough time for Dende to heal Gohan.
Despite their efforts, Frieza is still superior. Piccolo finally arrives on the battlefield, announcing that he will be taking on Frieza alone. Fortified by his combining with Nail, Piccolo begins battling Frieza...and Wins. However, Frieza's not through yet and Transforms again. In his grotesque new form, Frieza begins obliterating Piccolo.
Gohan rushes to rescue his mentor, and when Krillin tries to follow suit, Vegeta stops him, revealing to Krillin that he may have a strategy that will allow him to destroy the tyrant.
Chi Chi senses danger and is itching to help, but she must protect Goku while he's healing.
Frieza dodges Gohan's attack but quickly finds himself on the receiving end once again, the young half Saiyan unleashes a massive blast that even the tyrant himself has difficulty deflecting.
Frieza realizes that Gohan is a Saiyan. Taking no chances, Frieza transforms into his Final form.
Vegeta's plan to defeat Frieza involves having himself mortally wounded and then being healed by Dende, which the Saiyan prince achieves by having Krillin shoot an energy blast through his chest.
Vegeta has realized that each time a Saiyan is badly injured, his power level will increase substantially after he is healed.
Vegeta lowers his defenses to allow Krillin's attack to succeed, and Krillin proceeds to deliver a devastating blow to Vegeta.
What nobody realizes is that Dende has no interest in healing Vegeta (due to him killing his people); Dende runs from Vegeta and instead heals Piccolo, who eventually convinces him to heal Vegeta as well.
Frieza eventually reaches his final form, and immediately kills Dende with his Death Beam.
Having witnessed his healing abilities while transforming, Frieza realizes this may be the key to defeating the others.
Krillin, Gohan, and Piccolo go on the attack but the tyrant dodges every single move. Vegeta challenges Frieza, claiming to be a Super Saiyan. The Saiyan prince powers up to unbelievable levels of strength, which leave Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo in awe.
But no matter how much he tries, Vegeta is no match for the Icey Tyrant. Vegeta realizes he is not a Super Saiyan status and starts to fear.
Gohan attempts to help but is stopped by Piccolo, who claims Gohan wouldn't be able to do anything anyway. However, just as all hope seems lost, Goku emerges from the rejuvenation chamber inside Frieza's spaceship, fully recovered.
Chi Chi is happy to see Goku well again...and stronger than ever.
The Husband and Wife are Ready to take on Frieza. Vegeta is quickly incapacitated by Frieza. Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin are forced to stand idly by while Frieza continues to thrash the Saiyan prince.
However, Goku and Chi Chi finally arrives at the battlefield and confronts the tyrant. Surprisingly, Frieza finds Goku's appearance very familiar.
Frieza tries to kill Goku, but is thwarted by him. Vegeta realizes that Goku is a Super Saiyan.
Vegeta begins to mock Frieza, but is soon silenced when the tyrant blasts the Saiyan Prince through the heart, giving him just seconds to live. Before his death, Vegeta informs Goku that Frieza was responsible for the destruction of the Saiyan planet and the entire Saiyan race; Vegeta begs Goku to defeat the tyrant and avenge their people, and even sheds true tears, which greatly moves Goku.
Goku then makes a grave and buries Vegeta, before setting his sights on Frieza himself, vowing that he will defeat the merciless tyrant. Chi Chi joins Goku and tells Frieza that he's gonna pay for hurting her Son.
Goku and Chi Chi jump into battle against Frieza, and quickly prove to be more of a challenge than Frieza thought..The Husband and Wife team rivaling Frieza.
As Sons and Frieza attempt to one-up each other, Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo back away to watch the battle from a safe distance, while Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu watch from King Kai's planet in the Other World.
At one point during the battle, Goku and Chi Chi are able to take advantage of Frieza's inability to sense another's ki.
Frieza amps up his attacks on the couple. Despite this,Piccolo claims that neither The Sons nor Frieza are fighting at full power just yet.
The Sons and Frieza's battle continues, with them being evenly matched. However Goku and Chi Chi are in for a shock when they discover the tyrant has only been using a small amount of his total power. Frieza then boosts his power up to 50%.
Goku and Chi Chi remove their weighted Clothing. Goku removes his wristbands and undershirt,while Chi Chi just removes her wristbands,as the other weighted clothing she had were her sandals,and she kicked those off during the Ginyu fight. So,Chi Chi is still barefoot. The Sons are quickly overwhelmed.
Chi Chi is revealed to know the Kaio-ken. (a move she learned from Goku) However, even With the use of the Kaio-ken, the Sons are no match for Frieza. Goku uses the 10x Kaio-Ken, but it fails.
Goku and Chi Chi continue to be thrashed by Frieza.
However,they sees a vision of how Frieza could destroy everyone they loves,and as a result, Goku uses the 20-times Kaio-ken alongside a massive Kamehameha against Frieza. Chi Chi uses a 10x Kaio-Ken and an Energy ball.
Neither attack harms the Tyrant that much. Chi Chi advises Goku to use the Spirit Bomb.
Goku,having no choice, decides to do it. While Goku is making his Spirit Bomb, Chi Chi keeps Frieza busy.
With so little ki from living things left to absorb on Namek, Goku absorbs ki from the other worlds on the Galaxy.
Creating a Spirit Bomb of this size takes extensive time and concentration. Frieza continues to give Chi Chi a tough time. .
Piccolo, Gohan and,Krillin give Goku some Energy for the Bomb. Soon after, Piccolo decides to intervene and aid Chi Chi against Frieza.
The Namekian and Barefooted Earth Woman are still no match for Frieza, as Goku continues charging the Spirit Bomb.
Goku completes the Spirit Bomb and hurls it down upon Frieza. The tyrant manages to catch it, but is unable to stop it from exploding on him. The Z Fighters celebrate their apparent victory and start making plans to return to Earth. Goku congratulates Chi Chi on officially becoming a Z-Fighter.
Suddenly, Frieza reappears and, though not-so- badly damaged from the Spirit Bomb,begins his assault again. Frieza targets Goku with his Death Beam, but Piccolo takes it for him. The attack renders Piccolo unconscious. His next Target is Krillin. Frieza causes the Monk to explode.
Enraged by these sacrifices, Goku undergoes a radical transformation in which his eyes turn from black to green, his black hair turns blonde, and his body is surrounded in an aura of golden light.
With his powers now greatly enhanced, Goku orders Gohan and Chi Chi to take Piccolo to his spaceship, find Bulma, and leave Namek, while he handles Frieza.
Chi Chi questions this, But Goku strongly insists. Chi Chi and Gohan do as they are told. Frieza is about to Kill them as they fly away, but Goku stops him.
The transformed Goku renews his battle with Frieza and proves to now be far superior to Frieza's power. Frieza launches several counter-attacks at Goku, but they have no effect at all.
As the tyrant stares in awe at his more-powerful opponent, he realizes that his worst nightmare has come true, his Enemy was a Super Saiyan. In a desperate attempt to defeat Goku, Frieza hurls an attack down upon Namek itself, in an effort to destroy the planet and everyone on it.
Frieza's attack on Namek detonates the planet's core.
Chi Chi, Gohan and Bulma feel the effects. Frieza is disappointed that the attack didn't out right destroy the Planet. Though he claims that Namek will explode in five minutes.
Super Saiyan Goku is confident that he can defeat Frieza within that time, however, Frieza then decides to power up to 100% of his full power.
Much to King Kai's amazement, Goku allows Frieza to reach his full power rather than attacking while Frieza powers up, wishing to defeat the tyrant at his best. After dropping Piccolo off at Goku's Ship, Chi Chi and Gohan search for Bulma.
They eventualy find her (still barefoot) and take her back to Goku's ship.
The epic battle between Goku and Frieza rages on the dying Planet Namek. King Kai is informed by Kami on Earth that Mr. Popo has gathered all seven of Earth's dragon balls.
Upon learning of the Earth's dragon balls' ability to resurrect multiple people, King Kai asks that the wish be used to revive the victims of Frieza and his minions, thus also bringing back Guru the Grand Elder, who was indirectly killed by Frieza (he was so heartbroken that his children were all murdered,he died.).
With Guru alive, the Namekian Dragon Balls, will be revived too. And that they can use the final wish to transport everyone to Earth, except for Frieza. Mr. Popo then summons Shenron and fulfills King Kai's first request.
Shenron the Eternal Dragon of Earth revives the Namekians that Team Frieza killed, including Guru. Vegeta is revived too.
King Kai contacts Guru and tells him the situation. Guru contacts Dende and tells him to go make the wish.
Telepathically, Goku interrupts the conversation between Guru and King Kai and requests that he wants to stay and battle Frieza. Goku wants to punish the Tyrant by destroying his Ego and he can't do that if the fight is interrupted. After a small argument between The Super Saiyan and the King Kai,The Kai decides to alter the wish so that Goku can stay on Namek to fight Frieza.
Dende makes the wish to Porunga and Everyone is brought to planet earth except for Goku and Frieza. Everyone is on Earth now and wonders what happened. Guru tells them. Chi Chi begins to worry about Goku, but promises to chew him out for his reckless actions when he returns home.
Back on Namek, The battle continues, and Goku defeats Frieza. Satisfied with the win, Goku decides to call it quits and begins to depart towards his spaceship. Unable to accept this, Frieza launches a pair of heat-seeking ki disks at Goku. The Super Saiyan manages to avoid them.
In a freak accident, Frieza is sliced in half by his own attack.
On Earth, Guru the Grand Elder dies again, but before his death, he gives his power to Moori, one of his eldest sons, making him the new Grand Elder, and thereby preserving the power of the Namekian Dragon Balls.
Meanwhile, on Namek, the dying Frieza begs for mercy from Goku. Despite his better judgment, Goku cannot ignore Frieza's pleas for help and gives the tyrant some of his own ki before departing.
However, Frieza lets his pride get the better of him and unleashes one final blast at Goku, but the Super Saiyan easily repels the blast right back at the tyrant and seemingly destroys Frieza in the process.
Goku then attempts to escape in Frieza's spaceship, but is unable to make it take off. Namek finally explodes and it appears that Goku perishes along with the planet. King Kai has Yamcha break the news to Chi Chi and the others. Chi Chi is devastated. Bulma reminds Chi Chi and Yamcha that they can revive Goku with the Namekian Balls.
However, King Kai informs them that even though the Namekian Dragon Balls can resurrect Goku and Krillin, they will be brought back to where Namek used to be and die again in the vacuum of space. Vegeta comes up with an Idea: Use the Dragon Balls to first bring Goku and Krillin's souls to the Earth's check-in station in the Other World, from where they can be resurrected on Earth.
130 days after their use on Namek, the Namekian Dragon Balls become re-active (according to dende). The first two wishes are used to successfully revive Krillin; it is revealed that Goku is actually still alive and that he will return to Earth on his own later. Everyone is happy about it..especially Gohan and Chi Chi.
Vegeta leaves for space in one of Capsule Corps ships to find Goku, so that he can learn how to become a Super Saiyan.
Yamcha is then brought back to life with the third wish. Another 130 days later, the Namekian Dragon Balls are used to revive both Tien and Chiaotzu, and are then used to teleport all of the native Namekians to a new planet.
The Z Fighters then return to their peaceful lives, waiting patiently for Goku to return. Chi Chi continues Training (barefooted,of course)...and Gohan learns how to balance his studies with his training.
